The Procession of the Dead Jesus…

A MUCH-LOVED Easter tradition in the multicultural Catholic parish of St Brigid’s, Marrickville, the Procession of the Dead Jesus on Good Friday has its origins in the local Italian community.

Starting around 7pm, the procession surrounds a life-size statue of Jesus Christ carried solemnly by the Diocese’s clergy, through and out of the magnificent c1921 church into the local streets. The crowd walks once around the block before being brought back into the church for prayers and bi-lingual service.
