Red Carpets and the AACTAs… Oh, the AACTAs…

HEELS were as high as hopes at the second annual Australian Academy of Cinematography and Theatre Artists (AACTA) Awards.

Held in The Star casino, the prestigious ceremony attracted the Who’s Who of the acting world, with more than a handful of former Sydneysider & homegrown VIPs on hand to congratulate and honour the Aussie industry’s best and brightest from the past year.

Russell Crowe compered the program,  and alongside fellow Oscar winners Nicole Kidman and Geoffrey Rush also shared award presenting duties on the stage for the night.

The Sapphires proved the program’s biggest winner, collecting a total of 11 AACTA Awards, before an audience that included the film’s muses – the Aboriginal singing troupe who performed for soldiers at the frontline in the Vietnam War.
